Rehabilitation/Livelihood Support
CanSupport provides rehabilitation and livelihood support to destitute patients and their caregivers to stay afloat or tide over economic crises, especially cases where a family’s chief earner or breadwinner is not able to work due to their illness. The patients might not be able to take up any income generation activity and the rest of the family is engaged in the caregiving process or has other constraints. Apart from in kind assistance, patients and their families affected by cancer or other serious illnesses can also be empowered through education, skill development, and entrepreneurship.
There are several ways we facilitate such as fulfilling six months’ supply of dry food ration for families or helping to start small businesses through equipment support like push card for food, sewing machine, printing machine, rickshaw, rental and startup material for a fabric or cloth store. Vocational training through an academy and subsequent placement in pertinent industries is another way we guide. Mobilising government social schemes for girl children, widows, elderly and other schemes also prove helpful. In the last financial year, we were able to support 1,760 patients/families through kindness of our donors.
