On 30th September 2023, The Brand Story invited Harmala Gupta, CanSupport Founder President to ‘India Brand & Leadership Conclave’ as a Social Guest and Panellist for “her pioneering efforts, incredible insights, experiences, and the invaluable work she continues to do in the field of cancer care.”
At the event that was held at ITC Sheraton, Saket, Harmala Gupta was recognised & honoured for her tireless efforts and dedication that has paved the way for a more compassionate and supportive environment for cancer patients in India.
Speaking at the occasion on empathy & compassion, Harmala Gupta said, “Cancer can affect anyone, anytime – man, woman, young, old, rich, poor. It does not discriminate and in that sense is all inclusive. Therefore, our response to it has to be the same – all inclusive”. She added that the way CanSupport reached out to people is through a helpline which is available in all the regions where CanSupport provides home care.
She also said, “Besides medical care, cancer patients need support in many other areas such as psychosocial, spiritual and economic support. Cancer destroys the individual completely and an approach is needed that doesn’t just confine to the medical side but is all inclusive. Support is required by not just the person who is affected by cancer but the entire family”.
She concluded by saying that “Empathy or compassion is about responding to all these needs”.
