Asha Rani’s Final Wish: A Dignified Goodbye at Home

Asha Rani’s Time with CanSupport

Asha Rani, a 71-year-old woman, had been battling hepatocellular carcinoma for some time. Her condition had worsened, with asytic fluid buildup and immobility causing her significant distress. Despite these challenges, she was fully aware of her situation and faced it with remarkable courage and steadfast faith in Chhatarpur wale guruji.

Her son and daughter-in-law were her primary caregivers. They devoted themselves to her care with selfless love and attention, ensuring that she was as comfortable as possible. The CanSupport team had been actively involved with them offering support and guidance during this difficult time.

The team recognized the importance of preparing the family for the inevitable end of Asha’s life. The counsellors had regular communication with her caregivers, discussing the natural progression of her illness and what to expect in her final days and hours. The team emphasized the importance of not rushing to the hospital when the time came, allowing Asha to spend her last moments in the comfort of her home, surrounded by loved ones.

On one of the visits, the team had gently inquired with Asha. We asked her if there was anything she wished to do or any unfulfilled desires she had. With a serene smile, she expressed a simple wish: she wanted to spend her last moment at home. That is why we had relayed the same to her dear ones.

We provided the practical support, and ensured Asha’s medical needs were addressed through asytic tapping and catheterization for her comfort. They managed her pain with care, ensuring she could enjoy the moments without distress and monitored attentively.

In the final moments, Asha’s family was around her. Her eyes closed, and with calmness on her face, she took her last breath surrounded by the people who cherished her most.

The palliative care team remained with the family, her wish for a peaceful and dignified farewell was fulfilled. The team’s compassionate and holistic approach had lessened the stress for everyone and Asha’s legacy lives on in grace.
