The Annual Remembrance Day is a very special time for CanSupport and the bereaved families who come together to honour and celebrate lives of their dear ones who lost to cancer. It is the time of sharing and acknowledging Home Care team’s efforts in supporting families in taking care of their love ones at a difficult stage of their lives.
This year CanSupport observed Remembrance Day on the 23 of November, 2019 at the beautiful lawns of Bahai’i House of Worship. Zena Sorabjee, Vice- Chairperson, National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahai of India and Ghanshyam Solapurka from Baha’I House were special guests for the day.
The Programme started with silence and a poem recited by Mausami Dey Bhansali, Counsellor followed by opening address by Zena Sorabjee and message of hope by Ghanshyam Solapurka.
Dr Reena Sharma, Head of Home Care Palliative Care Services introduced the homecare teams to the audience. A beautiful rendition of songs of loss and hope was presented by CanSupport Choir followed by caregivers sharing testimonies about how the teams supported them.
The evening concluded with releasing of balloons in the sky with messages (a symbolic way of sending note to their loved ones who have rested in peace), lighting of diyas and writing messages on the tribute tree.
About 400 caregivers attended the programme. We are thankful to Bahai House, Individuals, donors who supported us in organizing the programme.
