Story of Muskan- A Foodie

CanSupportStories

Food is one thing that can light a smile on anyone’s face. Who doesn’t like eating, right? We all have our favorite dishes out there. Food that we crave, we might even be foodies, we might love exploring and experimenting with our food. Muskan’s life wasn’t any different. Chocolates were her best friend, they could light up her day whenever she felt down, until she realized her jaw doesn’t support her anymore in her dream to become a foodie.

Muskan was diagnosed with mandible cancer which left her in pain whenever she tried to eat. The devastation that one feels while facing something that seems so out of your control yet it controls every aspect of your life is an emotion that not everyone can relate to but can only empathize with. Cancer does not just influences an individual but all those who are around them as well. Obviously the despair and hopelessness that Muskan felt didn’t spare her family, her loved ones. What will they do now? How are they going to deal with this? these were some of the questions. They wanted to support her in the battle when Muskan was not able to support herself.

CanSupport with their vision to assist cancer patients through their struggle of survival met Muskan, who was then suffering. Subsequently CanSupport’s doctors analyzed her condition and prescribed medication. The medication improved Muskan’s condition significantly. On the visit that followed, Muskan was in lesser pain. The toll that fighting against something like cancer can take on an individual as well as their family cannot be overlooked. Thus, in their efforts to take all-round care of the patient, CanSupport’s team counsellor was assigned to provide psycho-emotional support to the patient and the family.

The family is really thankful to the CanSupport team. In the time where they had no other direction, the support that the team provided was fundamental. The family now knows how to support their daughter and become a pillar in her battle against cancer. Now the team visits are fortnightly, and all family members treat the team as a part of the family.
