CanSupport organized its 12th annual walk a thon, Walk for Life: Stride against Cancer supported by ONGC, our Associate Partner, CORE Diagnostics, Boeing International Corporation India Private Limited and Max India Foundation. The Walk was organized to draw public attention to the growing and menacing presence of cancer in our country, to show support for cancer patients, honor those lost to cancer and raise funds for CanSupport’s free of charge home care services to people with cancer in Delhi/NCR and Amritsar.
The Walk started with the Zumba session conducted by Fantezy Pvt Limited and an awareness talk by Dr. Bhawna Sirohi, Director, Medical Oncology, Max Hospitals and Member of CanSupport Managing Committee. This year we had a special dance performance by the child patients who visit our Day Care. The inaugural ceremony began with Ms. Harmala Gupta, Founder-President of CanSupport giving a welcome address followed by a speech by the Guest of Honor Mrs. Jeannie Mulford wife of Ex US Ambassador to India, David Mulford. Our Guest of Honour, Smt. Gursharan Kaur, Wife of Ex-Prime Minister - Dr. Manmohan Singh, flagged off the Walk.
Other dignitaries who came to extend their support at the walk were: Dr. A.P Maheshwari, DG Bureau of Police Research & Development; Ms. Marykay L Carlson, Deputy Chief Of Mission, US Embassy; Ms. Shashi Prasad, DGM-HR, Incharge CSR, ONGC Limited; Ms. Mohini Daljeet Singh, CEO, Max India Foundation and Ms. Praveena Yagambhatt, Leader for Boeing Global Engagement India.
This year, the Walk saw youth actively taking the lead with more than 8000 participants including individuals from more than 29 Corporates and students from around 47 Schools & Colleges. Iron Men-Harley Davidson Bikers Group also rode along with the participants reinforcing camaraderie between patients and supporters.
