A Week of Remembrance – Virtual Event

CanSupportEvents

Unlike earlier years when the Remembrance Day was held in-person at the Bahai House of Worship, this year because of government recommended guidelines and for everyone’s health and safety during the current Covid-19 pandemic, CanSupport held a Week of Remembrance-Virtual Event from the 7th December to 11th December 2020 on Zoom and it was also simultaneously broadcast live on Facebook. Each day of the week was dedicated to five zones respectively.

The week-long event was held to pay a tribute to those lost to cancer and listen to their loved ones share their experience.

The Virtual Week of Remembrance started with the founder – President of CanSupport Harmala Gupta welcoming everyone to the event. She expressed her gratitude to all those families who opened their homes to the CanSupport teams. She also thanked all the CanSupport teams, the volunteers, and donors who made it possible for CanSupport to serve cancer patients for free. She appealed to all the viewers to share with everyone about CanSupport’s work and to donate to CanSupport. The caregivers came forward to honour and pay tribute to their loved ones and express their gratitude to the CanSupport teams for their help. They applauded each member of the CanSupport team for giving medical, emotional and psychological support to them and the home care patient at the time it was needed the most.

The week of Remembrance concluded with CanSupport officials at the Head Office lighting diyas in the memory of our home care patients and sticking messages by their caregivers on the tribute tree. The CanSupport song "Kaash Samay Kuchh Tham Jaata" was played in the background. The song has been adapted from the orignial poem by the Children’s Hospital in Minsk and translated in Hindi by Rajni Bhagat Arora & Leela Prasad. Sung by Ruchika Caselino, the music for the song was composed and arranged by Deepak Castelino and mixed by Amjad khan at studio 69.
